Our PRE breeding stallions

"Novelero IX" was probably the epitome of the La Paz breed. He was born here on the Finca in 1987. His father "Sevillano" was a prime stallion from the Spanish military stud farm in Jerez, who was paddocked here over one cover season, his mother "Novela" was part of the old mare herd from La Paz.

"Novelero" got with 2 and half year old an exceptional qualification as stallion for the PRE from the Spanish military breeding stock. He was well documented to P.R.E. standards pedigree regulations. Over the years his career as a stud stallion has thrived and the number of his descendants can only be estimated. The typical marks of his foals are strong character, temperament and honesty. We have used many of them in our trails over the years. "Novelero" was not only a stud stallion. Long years of dressage training made him and me a quality team. Due to his temperament and ambition he always gave 100%. As a young stallion he already lived free for a few years in his mare herd and had a perfect character with the mares and foals.

In 1996 we took another stud stallion by the name of "Eringium 1" from the well-known breed of Raphael Camacho Benitez (Ventura Benitez) He came as a 3 year old to be saddle trained by me, then sent back to Cabra/Cordoba, his homeland. He came to us as youngster but however his unbelievable charm and noblesse prompted us to approach his breeder and beg to keep him at La Paz. Although we could not afford him it was clear his future was with us.

Now we had our second stud stallion with one of the best papers in Spain! He had the best combined characteristics we could have wished for, which was noblesse, hardness, movement, a readiness to perform and a fantastic stance and body condition. Bred in the glaring mountains of Cabra, he is confident and inspired on the climber routes in the area. Even in the square his talent and exuberance need to be restrained as his joy undertaking the work needs to be controlled.
In 2002 with a heavy heart I had to give up daily work with both stallions for health reasons. "Novelero" was allowed to live with the mare herd the whole year. He became very protective with his mares and played constantly with the new generation. He was an extremely fit and lucky stallion. In summer 2006 we had to say good- bye to him - but we will never forget him, not just because of the numerous foals from him but also because of this special chemistry we had together.

In the meantime I am still riding Eringium and he has the knack of winding me round his little finger, but he is a totally reliable horse. Eringium is still being introduced in controlled insemination and responds as the champion that he is. Together with our mare herd the 2 stallions make the foundation of approximately 140 riding horses which today show our guests the beauties of Andalusia from the most advantageous and beautiful perspective.

Since June 2004 we have also acquired "Bruto II". He is a much heavier type with the same charming noblesse as the other two. He has "Canadao" blood and shows tremendous promise. We acquired "Bruto" from the Finca of a breeder in the mountains of Moron.

He also came to La Paz as youngster and got trained and ridden by me and developed to a serious stallion. Under the saddle and in the treatment he shows a lot of temperament but always easy to control and with all attention to learn new things. A great partner to have a lot of fun with. His foals have all attributes we were dreaming of and he got a great enrichment on La Paz.
